AN Fuel Line Help
AN Fuel Line Help
Sorry if this has been asked before or in the wrong section, I searched and couldn't find anything. Here's my dilemma:
I'm upgrading my intake manifold to a Skunk 2 and decided to add some other things like FIC 1100, AEM Fuel Rail, and FB 70mm throttle body. I'm doing AN fuel lines to get rid of the OEM hardlines out of the engine bay. Does anyone know how I can connect the OEM hardline to a -6AN hose? I was thinking this, but didn't know how much it would work.

IIRC, I used this fitting... http://www.jegs.com/i/Earls/361/9816...oductId=749370
The NPT side will just screw onto the nut thats on the stock fuel feed line.

i yanked the hardline which is too small anyway and replaced it with -6an Aeroquip Startlite race hose or you could use steel bradied, teflon or push-lock hose as well.
the hardline comes out real easy and you can pull the plastic tabs between the troughs to make one trough big enough for the -6an line which is .625" OD.then since the clips back up.

here is a proper adapter:

as masonh said though, putting in a short section of AN hose is not going to help much with flow.

lol. Too bad its $30. It should be about $5-10. Wierd is why Earl's or Russell don't make a proper fitting rather than a screwball o-ring fitting.
I just priced everything out and with that fitting, hoses and all fittings to go to the aeromotive rail it was a lot more than I was willing to spend... I think I am good with the OEM lines LOL
for economy push-lock is definitely the way to go.off the top of my head you could get a 10 micron filter, the fittings and the line for under $150 and have -6an all the way from the double pumper to the rail.i bought a good high flow fuel filter from Jays racing with barb fittings on it for i think $70.10 feet of hose should be $30 or so and the push-lock fittings are cheap, then you need the $25 rail fitting.
i would guess getting the -an double pumper,-an filter and running the braided hose with crimp fittings would cost at least double, but you could get a hose with a tougher shell and some would argue the crimp fittings are better than push-lock.personally i think the push-lock is the **** and if you like reassurance you could even clamp or double clamp the push-lock fittings.
i bought my EVO 8 already setup with AMS rail, but the factory hard line was still there.the guy i bought it from had a fuel pressure gauge installed in between the hard line and the rail and the fitting used on that pressure gauge actually had an ID of under .200" which was yet another bottle neck and also the flares on the factory line go down to under .200".i just figured making everything .375" would have to help.
i have read some people say not to use rubber or flexible lines, but i think the push-lock stuff will work.i know guys running it successfully.the startlite race hose has a push-lock inner hose with a Kevlar/Nomex shell.

I'll probably end up doing the Buschur Double Pump with -6AN fittings and run them to a Y and go -8 to the fuel rail. Then a -6 return to the FPR and actors hardline from the FPR to tank. I don't mind the cost of everything. I just want to be satisfied the first time with it.

Any tricks to open it without twisting the hard line? I wan't to install a new fuel line+filter between the fuel rail and hard line.

Best would be to run Holley performance Earl's Speed flex PTFE hose it's rated for 1500psi and carbon lined for fuel. -6 from each pump into a Y block and -8 speedflex hose into a walbro 10 or 40 stainless steel filter and -8 again into fuel rail. Upgrade would be ultrapro hose but the crimping tool for that alone is like 2k.

I tried to remove the stock fuel line from the hard line. The fitting is tight and I didn't manage to open it. Does it have normal threads, so it opens counterclockwise?
