leaking valve cover

the hole in my valve cover is leaking only under boost. i had originally thought it was a spark plug gasket but replaced and the problem is still there. i searched but couldn't find anything on this topic. is there something i could plug that hole with?

when you took of the valve cover to replace gasket anything worth noting on the head? Did anything seem out of the norm? And was there any stress cracks on it underneath would be a better way to tell. May need to clean it out to really get a good look.

But other then that I really wouldnt have any great thoughts. So take that for what its worth not much.......sad face

These valve covers, old DSM, and new, are notorious for stress cracking in that valley area if they are over-torqued on install. I've broken a few and seen a bunch cracked when I used to work for Mitsu. Try JB weld or Marine weld if you dont want to just replace it. Probably your best bet.

Nothing is cracked or damaged on the valve cover. Its like a breather hole or something. The bar that goes over my cam has something to do with it also i assume.

did you recently do an oil change? that hole is simply a drain for the valley. youll notice its thru and thru, emptying on the backside of the valve cover. that tube should not be any cause of leaks. so, with that being said, and the reason why i ask about an oil change, is if a little oil misses the fill hole, it tends to make its way inside the spark plug valley, thus the reason that drain tube is there, to keep any puddling from forming in a sparking region.

ahh that makes sense also why i've had oil on the back side of the cover. thanks i'll keep looking for the leak lol

as far as oil changes it wouldn't matter. i clean it and oil comes back somehow, then i change it and still happens.

i have the same issue and it makes me mad!!!

iv pulled my valve cover and its a thru and thru hole, i thought it was crank case pressure so i biought the kracka krank case vents and ity did not fix it. thought maybe it was over oiling drianed fill the exact oem amount, still flooding out.

and i cleaned the crap out, even used brake cleaner. still leaks out under boost

Theres only four ways oil can get into that area. missing the hole while pouring oil in, spark plug tube seals, valve cover bolt washers, or a crack. also, if you have any restriction in either of the vent valve, hoses or internal baffling of the valve cover, its going to force out of the point of least resistence.

+1.
Agreed, but like I said earlier, these covers are notorious for cracking if overtightened.
