Problem with gas pedal.

So I was driving home today and while accelerating noticed the pedal got very loose, at first I thought the actual pedal was falling off but when I got home and inspected it pedal was perfectly fine. Just that all of a sudden I got about 2 inches of slack before it really accelerates. I tried following the cable thruought the engine bay but everything seemed okay. The bracket on the intake manifold that holds the cable end was tight and it did not slide front. I just unbolted the two screws and slid the bracket as far back as possible to try to give the cable more tension. It worked and it has just a little unnoticeable slack. What could have possibly went wrong?

It's perfect. It was just in the cable. All of a sudden while driving it gave me about 2 inches of slack, I thought it was the actual pedal that got loose till I inspected it.

me too. stretched throttle cable? i RR my car, probably a combo from excessive heat and pressure from the pedal.

mine was a rubber grommet that is attached to the throttle cable-gas pedal. you must purchase the whole cable. stick your hand up there and feel for it. i touched mine and it just fell off into the floorboard. so, throttle cable purchased.

KevinD at Evodynamics knew exactly what it was.

this shows what goes bad that causes the gas pedal to do this. make sure you dont squeeze it too hard when you floor it, once its down there it doesnt need to be pushed any harder(lol), the car wont go faster. I will be going by that now must replace entire throttle cable when this happens.

Yes that's what happened. While I was cleaning my car I find a small rubber cylinder looking thing that was slashed access the whole length.
