Clutch Inspection - HELP

I have been having ongoing clutch issues with my car and I finally got around to pulling the tranny. The issues were high rpm lockout at times, horrible clutch engagement, and the clutch would always drag around 5k rpms regardless of adjustment. Prior to this I had an ACT and had 0 issues. The current clutch is a Clutch Master FX300 with about 1500 miles on it.

I did not install this clutch but found a few loose bolts while taking out the tranny. One of the top tranny housing bolts and the long bolt that holds the transfer case to the tranny. I am not sure whether those being loose could cause movement which cause all the chattering, dragging, & lockout or not??

Visual inspection of the clutch and fly wheel look okay to me but I dont know that I want to put them back in or just buy a new setup. I am just looking for some additional insight on the condition of the clutch components and any additional input.

I had issue with a clutch master kit on my eclipse. swapped it out for act setup. I have a stage 3 competition clutch for sell if you decide to change that setup you have.

You tried adjusting the pedal before removing it?

yeah I went through everything. Adjusted it a ton, front motor mount, stainless master to slave line, under hood shifter bushing, rear diff bushings, etc and nothing. The clutch looks okay. There were numerous loose bolts that I think may have contributed to my issues. When I got the car back the one tranny mount stud was missing and one of the housing bolts was not there. When I fixed those it made a big difference.

Thanks for the input. I just hate to put this back together and it still does the same thing.

I was writing a person who was having clutch problems and I suggested he look under to check for slave cylinder operation. He wrote back, "Is the transmission supposed to move when you step on the clutch?"

I posted a video in one of my other threads showing slight movement in the trans when pushing in the clutch. I am gonna throw this thing back together and hope that all the loose stuff was the issue. Still sucks I took everything out. I will feel a lot more comfortable now though having inspected everything. I also know I can do a clutch job on my car now. Really was not as bad as everyone makes it out to be but it still was not fun. I am sure re-installation is going to be even worse.

If I were you I could get a dial indicator and check runout of the flywheel and clutch. Make really sure nothing is warped.

I had a fx300 in my car with great success. 8k rpm and no lock outs. This was with proper adjustment and install and a new flywheel.

I will do this before putting it back together. Thanks.

Mxguy - Yeah I definitely dont think it is the clutch. I am positive it was installation error.

Id blame the loose bolts if nothing is warped.
