russell proclassic hose fumes

Did anyone use this hose for the complete fuel system? from the tank to the rail and back? I wanted to use this but after some research I read people using this hose gets fuel fumes. Anyone got the same problem with this hose? I also cannot find info if this hose is E85 compatible.

I have been reading a bit about fume smells using ss braided lines. A lot of these issues come from the fact that not all stainless steel line is created equal. Some still have a rubber inner liner, or a rubber liner coated with something. The good lines to use are stainless steel braided line with a ptfe (Teflon) inner liner. You shouldn't have fumes with these type, and these usually accept exotic fuels like e85 with no issues.

I use the ProClassic black for my fuel return line off the fuel rail to the fpr. It's only seen E85 and seems OK so far. http://www.russellperformance.com/mc...ic/hoses.shtml

I use nylon braided lines from my fuel cell in the trunk up to the factory hard lines under the back seats and I have the same fuel odor. I read up that everyone has this problem other than those using teflon coated lines. Would like to upgrade when I can but it's not cheap.

This is where I been getting my lines from, great prices and they even show you how to assemble the lines and fittings. Its not so bad, I recommend wearing some thick gloves if you have never done this before though.

On there site they also have pressure test kits for various line sizes to test your new lines before you put them on, really good idea to do. It would suck to find out they weren't tightened down all the way and now you have a leak everywhere.

I have also purchased some ptfe lined hose from a local hydraulic shop that was way more expensive and that one does seem to be a bit more flexible, but honestly for what I needed it to do this stuff Im glad it doesn't flex as easily.

earls speed flex pfte hose is inexpensive, and hose ends go on easy. drawbacks are a large bend radius and the stainless braid scratches the **** out of anything it touches. nothing can be done about the bend radius, but there are sheaths to deal with the scratching.

I am going for the goodridge 910 hose, aramid kevlar braid and super flexible and I think is also the lightest hose out there, no hose ends with olives needed. Only it costs a bit more then earls or others.

i used to use the jegs or summit brand SS briaded hose on all our drag/race cars but the smell was just to awful and my boss could not stand it anymore while driving. So we now have our made up at a place that Crimps all the fitting on to a 5000 Psi rubber hyraulic hose for cheap stuff, and the Rubber/SS braided for the nice show stuff. the Price difference is big, about 1/3 more for the SS braided over the rubber hydraulic hose but both are rated@over 5000Psi. to do a whole car its about $300 bucks front to back for the good stuff and about $200 for the cheap stuff. And thats all the lines and this just makes it much easier no hassle cutting and fitting that crap into place.

Of couse the price depends on fittings used, hose length Ect. All in all ive found it easier to just measure it out and have it made up. And NEVER have to worry about leaks or reaks.
