the primary outlet is 3" and the WG side is 2.5"

Many of the o2 dumps are improperly designed- this we built because we hate the sound of the dumps (so do most race tracks sound meters) and they werent working effectively- some even leak exhaust through the dump tube at idle-

Sorry I didnt respond sooner- we are moving between the two shops right now-

cheers

cb

appreciate the compliments guys.

Absolutely fine looking kit. The pipe diameters of 3" outlet/ 2.5" WG is ideal. I am not a big fan of open dumps either, having lived wth a Delta Gate that dumped 4" above the pavement.

got the turbo back in the car and did some logs. i decided to try the 18 psi wga first, with the preload set the least amount.

the orange dotted line in this graph, the boost controller was let to the lowest. you can see the spool is very lazy and boost stayed flat at 15 psi then start to creep at 5k rpm and reached 19.5 psi by redline. the dotted blue line is where the boost controller was set to 18 psi. spool is much better and boost stayed flat till 5500 rpm then creep up to 19.5 psi by red line.

the graph compares a 23 psi setting vs. 18 psi setting above. the 23 psi setting seems to tapper off to 21.5 psi by redline. probably do to the minimal preload on the wga, and cant keep it completely shut on the top end. i think if i give the wga normal preload, then it would hold on the top end better. i'll try that at a latter time.

overall, i think the porting did help significantly. i'm able to keep the boost creep to to 19.5 psi, which is close to where i want it. if i give the wga a little more preload to keep the topend flat, then i think the boost creep will go up to 20-21 psi which is were i want to set it for DE anyways. i might even put the oem wga on and play around with the preload setting to see how it changed from the previous logs with the oem wga. the porting dropped boot creep about 5 psi which is what Aaron stated.

thanks for all the input guys.

Sounds like you have the creep more under control. Am I reading you correctly in that you only have 1.5 PSI of creep? You are on a MBC aren't you?

What is your target boost again? Yeah, turn MBC down to as low as the knob will adjust then increase WG preload up to about 2 PSI below your peak level. See how much it creeps when adjusted the way I describe.

EDIT: Did you earlier mention that you are running a crushed metal IX DV?

i've Hallman MBC. when i turn the BC all the way down, lowest it can go. the boost started of at 15 psi and creep up to 19.5 psi at redline. so that means that the lowest boost i can run is 19.5 psi which is about 5 psi lower than what i can run before the port job. with the same 18 psi wga, the lowest i could run before was 25 psi at redline.

my lowest target boost is 20 psi which is achievable now after the port job.

This is great! Now you won't have to sweat it for those events that you run.

yup, next stop is the dyno. my target is 20 to 26 psi depending on the events.

If you have two different target boosts and there is a wide spread between them and you are adjusting boost via MBC...then you have to try and preload(spring pressure) the gate to 1.5-2.0 PSI below the 20 PSI peak.

The turbo would spool a lot quicker if you could set preload up higher, to about 22-24 PSI. But, you won't be able to unless you want to be resetting the preload each time you adjust the MBC to the different peak level. That becomes a pain.

So , me, I would try setting the lower peak(20 PSI) just with spring pressure by adjusting the turnbuckle. If you can preload it to 20 PSI and it doesn't creep then you will be fine. But, it sounds like it is gonna want to creep maybe 1.5-2 PSI. So, I am guessing that you'll have to leave preload to about 18 PSI and let it creep up to 20 PSI.

You are going to have to play around with it some though.

Sorry I have no suggestions to help but with 0 wgdc on the 3 port, my BB Red holds 22psi flat across with these parts:

- BB Red (ported by FP)
- 25psi actuator (a few threads cut off and turn buckle threaded all the way down/preloaded all the way)
- JMF tubular manifold
- MAP o2 dump eliminator downpipe

No boost creep at all and the spool is awesome. Good luck

P. S the MAP o2 dump is one of my favorite mods. Can't get enough of the sound

^ so are you saying that the lowest boost you can run is 22 psi?

If he cut a few threads off the actuator rod and has the turnbuckle bottomed out down to max preload. He is running a heck of a lot more preload than you are Honda-Guy. He is preloaded to 22 PSI.

But, if he were to loosen the turnbuckle he could probably get boost down lower than 22 PSI.

^ he's also running 25 psi wga, in running 18 psi wga and at minimal preload.

Good observation. The FP 18 PSI actuator set at zero preload(base spring pressure) will be full open by about 14 PSI, not the advertised 18 PSI. The 25 PSI actuator is full open by about 18 PSI with zero preload.
