Adding AYC

I know that AYC is a complicated feature. But just in case the US EVO doesn't come with AYC in the worse case. Does any shop might be offering adding this feature?

You could always import an OEM Mitsu AYC unit and any other related electronics/mechanics to go with it since such an item and have it installed by a VERY competent mechanic. I wouldn't count on having a dealer install if the Evo comes without the unit since their mechs wouldn't be trained in it's servicing.

Most people will opt for swapping a high-performance LSD (Cusco maybe) to replace the stock AYC. In this case, I think it would be easier to get an aftermarket LSD instead going for an AYC. Since you don't need all the eletronics for the LSD

pjal84 and Lan Evo,

Thanks for your very valuable input! I am in LA area. Do you guys have any referral for some VERY competent mechanic who would be doing a good job for installing AYC and/or high-performance LSD?

Thanks

I think Cusco make very good quality LSD, they are a Japanese tuning company. I think you should be able to buy the part once the EVO hit US. If you're in LA, Road Race Engineering/Motorsports would be my choice you can find their link in the link section

Yeah, I heard about Road Race. I will go to their shop some day and discuss with them about the details. Thanks for the referral!

Claude,

isn't your AYC (for a 6.5 TME in case those of you don't know his car) not the same as the one found on an Evo7 ?
I thought made changes to the AYC system when they released the Evo7 ?

Actually, the AYC are all different (From IV, V, VI, TME and VII). However, the TME's AYC was known to be the "best" among the older style EVOs (IV to TME) with the best response

I do think they've made some changes for the VII's AYC in order to work with the ACD at the same time. However, at this point when we have not much info regarding the US-spec EVO, everything is just speculation (will it work/not)

Claudius, was that a typo on the price of your diff and bits?
If not, I'm amazed. Mitsubishi here in New Zealand charge around US$5,000 for a replacement AYC diff (not including prop shaft, driveshafts or controllers..). I might call on you if I break mine
