EF3 or EF4?

Need some help deciding which to go with. I have a 2.4L 10:1 built short block with walbro 400, MAP AFPR,FIC 1650, GSC 3, GSC springs, 3"tbe, FMIC, U/L ic piping, Ported E/I manifold & TB, Tephra V7 mod, E85, speed density coming and 4" intake before tune, and other things i cant think of right now. Im looking for close to 600whp, not shooting for more than that. EF3 is rated at 550whp on e85, could i squeeze out 20-30 more hp out of it with my setup cuz i would like the wider power range. I know i can hit it easy on the EF4, but i like the quick spooling turbos. I know many people have nice setups and would like some guidance.

And possibly bigger injectors.

I don't really think that you should be worried about spool on a stock frame turbo when you're running a 2.4 10:1. Go with the EF4, this way you hit your goal with out overworking the turbo. Either way it will be a crazy fun street car.

Since Chris has just recently introduced an EF 2.5, will he eventually offer an EF 3.5 to further tempt us in-betweeners

I would suggest the EF4. Injectors are perfectly fine, your idc will be ok, the only problem you might have is having enough fuel pump. a double pumper might be a better option. From what i have seen an ef4 is more like a FP red in its capability of making power. on pump they tend to do around 450ish whp on a mustang dyno and ethanol should put you right into your goal. Spool will be great especially with that 2.4L you are running and the EF4 will hold power out to about 8000 or a little more before it starts to taper off. Remember it is a stock frame turbo and they only flow so much. Good luck with your build and hitting your goals.

Sweet setup! What FMIC is on there anyway? Probably the guyz are right. With your build you probably want to do the EF4 and not the EF 3.

Do the EF 4 and an ETS 5" IC. Turn up the boost and let it breath big, up on top.Is this an unported head, BTW?

From what I understand the EF4 is larger than an FP Black. Local guy I know made around 700whp with an EF4 on e85.

Freddy! Those injectors are plenty big to make 600 on e85. An ef3.5 would be freakin awesome! The ef3 will make 600 on a perfect setup but you will be pushing it too hard and I'm sure the turbo will fail in a short amount of time. Your setup will still spool fairly quick on the ef4 so that's probably the best route.

I tuned a 2.0 ef4 on e85 a few weeks ago, he's a friend of the op, it made 596 at 33psi tapering to 30. So its clear the ef4 has plenty more power left in it. Spool was not so great, I pulled every trick in the book but I couldn't get it to spool much faster. 30psi @ 5300 If I remember correctly but I know a 2.4 will spool much faster.

ETS 3.5. Thanks Derek. Look forward to seeing you soon. If i go EF3 and deal with less than 600whp, i can keep my HTA green and rebuild it just to have. If i go EF4 i would send the green in for upgrade. Who knows, i will decide when i get paid what im do, lol, i got 2 weeks for that.

With your build 2.4 and 10.1 I don't think you would even notice the difference in spoolup from ef3 to ef4 so why hold your car back ef4 all the way.
