Cleaned throttle body high idle

I searched the DIY page and came across the throttle body instructions and did it to the detail. Cleaned the tb and iacv, checked the vacuum hoses and the gasket, none were cracked. I did find a post of someone who had a high idle after the install and the tweaked the screw back and set the idle right, I did the same. Is it normal for it to jump to 1200rpm? Was it the carbon buildup? It idles fine now I was just curious why it idled high.

First i would check and make sure your tps is set to the correct position of 13.33% if its open more you are letting more air in to the motor which could cause your motor to idle higher. Also the iscv could need to be tweaked and may just need to be adjusted farther in. HTH!

I seen that the tps sensor could be adjusted, thats why i marked it where it was originally. I got it working fine now.

Cleaning the TB should be done every once in awhile because I deffenitely felt a difference

TPS % does not affect the targeted RPM for idle... You can have it at 8% TPS or 15% and it will still idle at ~ 850 rpm ( if that's what it's set to via ECU)

There is a thin film applied from the factory that may look like carbon deposit in tb. You aren't supposed to scrape that stuff off as it helps to seal between the butterfly and the tb. If you scrape it all off the internals of your tb will be nice and shiny, but now you will have a high idle as its not sealing correctly.

Is there any way to replace it?

Log "idle switch" with evoscan. If it says off or 0 the car will not idle correctly. Adjust the tps down until it reads on or 1. Should be less than %15 tps.

Never scrub the throttle body! Use throttle body cleaner and a soft rag only! If you scrub it to hard damage will result and the Tb must be replaced.

Search around here - there is a thread where people posted what Moly spray you can buy to seal the gap around the throttle plate. I think I even posted a pic of the crap I bought. Aby@Milspec made a few comments/posts too in the thread I'm thinking of. If you cleaned the throttle body your idle will be high and will need to be reset using evoscan (I'd also use some moly spray too).

yeah its normal.. I'm sure its just because of the TB cleaner you used... mine did the same thing when i cleaned my TB... jumped to a high rpm and went back down after awhile.
