is it critical damage for exh. wheel ? **pics**

turbo was without hotside and got damaged during transporting
how bad is this kind of damage and what will it affect if I leave it that way ?
or should I attempt to heat them and straighten gently with pliers ?

Out of balance, dont run it like this! Contact fp performance, cbrd, or map.

Im not in states and no balancing shop around unfortunately
have only three options

1. heat and attempt to straighten fins
2. swap exh.wheel along with shaft (have another laying around, but this option will still remain unbalanced)
3. leave as is

I would pay the extra money to ship it to FP or a turbo specialist to fix it. Remember, these spin at 100k RPMs and even higher so balance is very important. Either that or send it back to the guy and get a refund.

If there is no material missing, it shouldn't be out of balance as weight is concerned. Chances are, when you straiten them, the geometry won't be exactly the same making a small pressure imbalance. This may or may not cause issues in the future. I have seen wheels missing significant ammounts of material from anti-lag damage and run fine for thousands of miles. If you can't afford it to fail, don't use it.

This is exactly correct. Balance has to do with weight, not the angle of the fins. Your turbo isn't missing any weight, therefore, it is still balanced to whatever degree it was balanced prior to the the bending of those blades.

I would heat those blades up and very carefully bend them back into position as best you can. In the end, if you do it correctly, you'll never even know it happened.

PS. I'm speaking here from personal experience as I did this on an exhaust wheel of a Borg Warner S480 years ago. Put it on the car and it ran like a champ.

foxbat no, I'm not read the first post

so what do you suggest

1. mark wheels/shaft/nut from my another turbo, dissasemle it and swap these parts to this chra, then reassemble accordingly
2. attempt to straighten pins
3. leave as is and install on the car

yep, I'm leaning to that idea too, only thing that's holding me back is that small krack on one of the fins and the danger to not brake it off

Bend em back....it appears that is realistically your only option anyway.

I didn't mean out of balance as in weight but as in turning the way it should, the wheel is suppose to be perfectly balanced.

Is it worth your whole motor? If you bend it back you will fatigue the metal, and the wheel is likely designed to maintain integrity to 1,700 degrees f + so good luck heating it. That sucker spins up to 100,000 rpm and the slightest centrifugal imbalance is no small matter. The wheel is toast.

I know weight determines the balance, so theoretically he should be fine.. But just think of the stress the turbine wheel is exposed too. I would just buy a new wheel, preferably a new MHI turbine wheel.. You might as well do it once, and right.

As I mentioned on evo123.net - a 10 degree backcut will clean that up along with increasing flow and top end with barely any noticeable difference in spool/lag (none at all in my experience).

I'd pay to send it away for a 20G upgrade with the above backcut myself.
