New clutch, Car jerky, Need quick fix

Ok so I just got my car back on the road. When I let off the clutch it starts to roll but then start's jumping a little kind of jerky feeling. If I give it a little gas it gets worse. So my question is should I adjust the clutch pedal In or Out? It's almost all the way in. maybe about 1/2" of threads left until the pedal is all the way in.

I guess I could call this "Shuddering"

Barring something wrong, shuddering or clutch chatter (harsh engagement) is normally from the design of the clutch disc and the friction material used. An aggressive material or lack of marcel (cushion between the linings) will increase the tendancy for clutch chatter. No amount of adjustment will fix this. Sometimes it gets better after the clutch is broken in as the material is allowed to lap in.

Is that the CC stage 3 in your sig? I have their stage 4 and it's only bad for me when going on an incline (driveway). The trick for me is to get the rpm's up to 2000-2500 and give it more throttle as I'm letting it out. If I go below that it shudders pretty bad.

Yeah the CC stage 3 w/ Fidanza flywheel

I'm @ sea level so its pretty flat around here, It only does this when I'm slowly letting out on the clutch I try not to rev it too high to get rolling. I'm just use to being able to let off of the clutch without even giving it gas. It just feels like it's going to tear something up lol

An aggressive clutch and lightened fly wheel cut the inertia on the rotating mass ( engine) causing the harsh engagement and inability to modulate the clutch for a smooth take off. Like someone said, maybe it will get better when in breaks in or you will just have to rev it more to keep it from stuttering on engagement.

A lightened flywheel makes it harder to modulate without over-rev or stalling (not as bad on the Evo generally) but it won't make it shudder.

I see, well I still have 370 miles of break in left guess I'll find out & if not I'll just have to give it some more gas I suppose.

I had a little bit of stutter breaking in my ACT street disk clutch. It certainly got better over time, and now it's just as smooth as my honda civic lol. As people have mentioned, keep the revs a little higher (~2000rpm) when letting it out and it should be better.

If after ~500 miles it's still bad, check your front and rear motor mounts to insure they aren't broken or the bolts aren't loose.

Correct...So clutch shudder can come from flywheel having high low spots ( even new ones can suffer this ) or some contaminant like grease or oil getting on the discs. This gets burnt and creates a dark burnt spot on the flywheel , it also causes the disc to have a spot on it that tends to grab suddenly.

Here are some questions to ask...

Was the rear main seal changed ? Was there obvious leakage for the existing seal ? Was the input shaft greased but the excess not taken Off? was the flywheel checked out for flatness or with a dial gauge to see if it was in spec ? Was the flywheel fully seated and the bolts torqued to specs ?

My car shuddered for 6 years during cold shifts. When i replaced the clutch this year, the flywheel had a burnt chatter mark and rough spot on it. Replaced it with a new OEM flywheel and it is like butter.

I de greased the friction plate really good and the flywheel itself. The main seal was still good no leaking so I didn't even mess with it this time around. The flywheel friction plate was trq to spec's from fidanza & everything else was trq to spec. I just didn't have a gauge to check but I didn't think it being brand new needed it but I guess there is always that chance it could have been. It seems to do fine around 1500 or I can even let off the clutch with no gas but I have to do it slowly for it not to feel jumpy.

Over all I think I just need to get use to it and it will probably clear up once the break in is over.
