prob wth my new ACT clutch!

I've had the clutch in for about 250 miles, been babying it too. put the power on from a role a couple of times to 22lbs and it doesn't seem to be slipping at all. But even when driving relaxed it stinks bad. I thought it was just some new clutch smell, and it would go away, but it doesn't seem to be dissapating whatsoever. Any ideas? It was installed at a reputable garage, and he doesn't think it should smell now either, but he said if it wasn't slipping, then it should be ok.

Mine smelled for about 400 miles as well. Give it a little time and see what happens, it also smoothed out some too.

I'd try not to hit 22psi on a new clutch and really baby it for a bit. ACT has AWESOME customer service. Try to drive gently for the first 500 miles on the clutch and if you have any trouble call them. IMO, this is a bg reason people had so many troubles with the stocker. Take good care of it for the first few hundred miles and it should last.

I agree. You don't want to be going WOT with a new clutch, even from a roll. It needs some miles to get seated correctly. If you overdo it too early you can glaze the disk and then the clutch will be junk. If it smells, I'd back off. I've got a dual disc clutch in my Z28 and the recommended break-in is 500 miles of mixed driving.
