My buddy was unable to finish machining the compressor housings so the car is not yet running. I was able to get the head back on and timing belt installed. I installed the exhaust manifold and downpipe so I am getting closer. Since I have some time I am going to do a minor wire tuck before putting on the intake manifold and I am considering replacing the alternator since it is original. I will continue to update and should have this running again soon.

wow so they did make a TS Vband housing. that is cool but for big power do you feel the ports are a bit small? it should spoolup very quickly. but id guess it will choke its self uptop. can you port them?

Nice.

Garrett should have gone one step further and cast a divided 44mm waste gate collector onto the merge while they were at it. It would have saved a lot of fabrication work and brought costs down for those considering using the housings.

I think it's awesome you're collecting backpressure data. It's too bad you don't have previous readings to compare to though.

The Garrett housing has a 3.0" male/female v-band assembly. If you look at the picture below you can see that I transition from 3.0" to 3.5" right off the turbine housing. I utilized the Tial flange/clamp assembly as they are interchangable.

I will update some picture tomorrow when I return, but I got all of my gear for data logging EGT, backpressure, turbo speed etc so I am excited to install the new touch screen system. The system is great because it also extracts all inputs from the Haltech through CAN.

Any chance you could put up some dimensions on that cast collector flow areas?
Dimensions of interest

What size runner is it notched for on the weld joint?

The cross sectional area at the v-band is exactly that, a cross sectional area at a distinct point within the scroll of the turbine housing. If you add the flange adapter section the turbine housing has two 2.0" inlets. I am not sure these dimensions mean anything because flow will define the performance of the housing.

Ideally the cross-section would vary in a smooth fashion from the runner ID to the scroll area. Just curious for the sake of seeing how it compares to runner cross-section to get an idea of how to form up a collector to make that transistion smooth.

Also curious as I'm wondering how much porting would potentially open up that flow path.

Pictures of the new gear for data logging the turbo performance.
4x EGT each runner
2x EGT before/after turbine housing
2x Pressure before/after turbine housing
1x Speed Sensor for turbo

Good looking equipment, how does the speed sensor gets its information? does it shoots an infared laser to calculate? where are you mounting the sensor, sorry if I missed this.

And where will you have the touch screen mounted? via Double din, maybe?

I am investigating where I can mount the touchscreen and have yet to decide. Regarding the sensor please see pictures below.
