I couldn't agree more with UFO...I'm a happy Dynoflash customer as well!

Don't know, but for me, it was a more comfortable decision knowing the background...this is not to imply the other two products are bad or anything, but if I was going to have surgery I would hope the doctor went to the best med school, know what I mean?
I agree with what you're saying, but going to the best school doesnt mean you can do the job better than the other person. In the case of works, the reason why the P2 is 600, because they have to pay alot of people and development time that it took to develope their reflash. In the other hand, dynoflash is pretty much a one man team: Al. I think both reflashes are great, but if I get a choice to pay less for something that is the same quality, I go for the cheaper price. I have driven 2 EVOs, including mine and both are badass. I have also ride in 2 other evos with dynoflash and with similar mods, they are badass too. I also see with my own eyes 2 EVOs with difference mods with dynoflash dual it out on the street of H-Town!!! That was by far the most joyful event of the day. So with first hand experience and many dyno sheets, I say dynoflash is the winner in the game for reliable and cheap power!!!

I have the Vishnu Xflash and am very happy with it.

My decision was based on ECU knowledge of the tuner and Shiv is tops on my list.

I noticed you didn't mention David Buschur's ECU re-flash. I understand he did it in collaboration with Al from Dynoflash. It's in the $300-400 range from what I hear (but I'm unsure since there's no info on Buschur's website).

I don't believe Buschur sells a generic type reflash for parts other than his own. As far as I was aware there only exists reflashes for his staged upgrades.

This isn't open heart surgery and schooling has nothing to do with this. Al has tuned over 370 ECUs through the mail with not one return or refund. He's passionate about his work and offers a fair price. The cost of living in San Fran is high, so is the cost of doing business there. It does not mean you get a better product because you paid more for it. Works makes nice products as I have a Exhale pipe, but dam, their prices are sky high. Downpipe = $450 or so, etc.

Did anyone know that Vishnu and Works used to tune Dynoflashes own car before he offered flashes? Also someone mentioned Works with 8 years of EFI experience. Vishnu has 10+ ears and IS an EFI tuner by trade with many OEM work and Many Many special project cars in magazines around the world. All offer a solution to the EM problem some tune the primary and secondary maps as well as the ability to actually program the code to raise boost and tune in OL and CL. Others tune a small portion of the primary map under WOT conditions and cannont raise boost.
Pop test and a show of hands to see if YOU know WHAT performance parameters your Reflash of choice offers

I thought that Al's Dynoflash for $200 was his through the mail Dynoflash which I thought was a mild flash. I thought he said that it may only give you 10-20 HP. I thought Al was all about tuning each car? Have things changed now on his flashes?

Again, you all have to make your own choices based on info you gather, and it seems people are happy with all three. But, seeing as I am not well versed in tuning ECU's (nor the majority of us, I would imagine since we are buying these), background can matter. Of course education is not the end all, be all, but strangely, the majority of people who build these cars to begin with are...engineers. Certainly doesn't seem to hurt...
I was mainly looking to gain back what I lost due to crappy California gas, and i wanted to do it as safely as possible. Does that mean Al and Shiv suck, and rah, rah Works? No, but I had to base it on something besides just random people on a board, right?
I guess we can check back 5 years from now, and see what happened to all of our cars...that should settle this.
As for Works having to pay a bunch of people--well, not really, they are not to far from a one man show, either.
Good luck!

The question of "which ECU do you prefer" should be answered by those who have tried all three options, correct?

If not, it basically becomes "which ECU do you have".

I would say Dynoflash is a great option. He also has upgrades available for additional mods if your in between mods.

I also would say Xflash if you want to be able to later adjust your own A/F and Boost and timing.

I myself am not ready to play tuner with my car so I like the option of having everything done to it as far as mods then having Dynoflash tune it and be done with. Also the 370 or so cars he has tuned are not all by the mail flashes. I know he has been all over the US tuning Evo's personally. And I have yet to hear anyone have one complaint. You can always get a hold of him on the phone and he backs his warranty 110%

All in all do your homework on all the options and make the your own decision an how you would like to set up your Evo.

The Works flash I dont know anyone who has it so I cant say much. But both Dynoflash and Vishnu have both displayed Dyno proven results and everyone seems happy with their product.

I agree with Shiv and hopefully he won't get torched for saying it. If you want a true accessment, ask someone that has tried all three. I would be shocked if you found someone that fits that discription. I don't have any of the three, but would feel comfortable based on the recomendations of users on this forum with any of them.

I also agree with MP5. You need to understand the technical differences between each if you are to accurately judge them. Unfortunately, I think you will have trouble here as well. The tuners don't seem to release many details on what they change. You can't blame them though, since this is what they spent their time researching and developing.

Good luck and I don't think you can make a wrong decision.
