Bumping this back up. Does anyone know exactly how much up is lost by keeping balance shafts in a motor? If is 1% or 15%? I'm just thinking that if it closer to 1% I'd keep em in my build I'm going to start

there prone to failure, and you cannot rev as high as youd want to reliably if you where to keep them in, just get the stub shaft and call it a day. if your building your motor you will be getting it balanced most likley anyways. problem solved

because when the BS bearings go it's a massive job/expense to fix!

Unfortunately most kids have got "no idea".
Most seem to think that because they've modified something, that makes it better.
The truth is usually the opposite.

Like above, saying that you're going to get it balanced anyway.

It doesn't work like that.

The balance shafts are for second order vibration.

4-year necro bump lol

I got my balance shafts WPC treated for my engine build along with the BS bearings.

Then I realized what a PITA maintenance is and since I'll be revving to 8000rpms or so, I decided to not install them.

I will be selling them eventually.

BS gone are probably worth ~10hp or so
