Looking to build my own cop setup. I was wondering where are you guys getting your ccoils at? Are you buying new or used? Wanting to build my own using the diy spooling up kit aand use toyota coils part # 90919-02244 which is a denso coil. I would prefer to buy them new, but if i do the cost will be the same as a spooling up kit aready made. Anyone know where to get them for cheap? A buddy of mine works for toyota, and even with him selling them at cost im sure they will still be expensive as hell. He hasnt had the chance yet to look them up. Help me out guys please, and thank you.
Im guessing the spark plug cover wont fit with those? Did u buy them new? Part #? My buddy got back to me finally. His price is $70 at the dealer which is still too high to justify using a spooling up diy kit.
i got my Denso coils used off ebay, i did the whole job for $100 bucks, i didntget the DIY kit i just got the connectors and made up my own wirering. Also but my hold down out of aluminum and then jeweled it, looks decent.
Thats what i was leaning towards, but it seems hit and miss with some of the sellers on ebay. Some have alot of negative reviews saying the coils go out after like a month.
Spark plug cover fits fine with the right bolts for the coils but I dont use mine. The coils are out of a 03 civic with a 1.7l, not sure on part #s, but im pretty sure they are the same from 01-07. Picked them up with the connectors at the local junkyard for $35, they really want to sell you the whole harness for the 4 connectors lol... and yes the rubber piece has to come off because there isnt much connection between the spring in the coil and the spark plug

They won't fit with the coils you are listing either. The coils you need are 90919-02240 I had a hell of a time finding them, because most Yaris that are crashed in the US, the engines are pulled as one piece and the coils go with the engines.
I had a buddy of mine in Japan go and get me a few sets of the 02240s from wrecked vehicles. I figured that if I got a few sets that I would find 4 good ones, but I was shocked and all 16 coils I purchased worked well. So I have a set for sale in the "for sale" section.
I then had an aluminum plate water jet cut for $35, and I used a spoolin-up DIY kit as I didn't know where to find the connectors
Where did you get the connectors? That could have saved me some money.
Those aren't for used Denso coils, they are for aftermarket coils. The Denso coils last a LONG LONG LONG time.
It's also funny, that spoolin-up says that they only will use the Denso coils, warning people of after market coils for just the reason mentioned above, even in the description of the "New" kit says they are denso coils, however when looking at a new, unused Spoolin-up kit shown for sale here:

The coils are obviously aftermarket.... which made me scratch my head considering he advises against using aftermarket coils on his site...
Anyways.... I just found the damn connectors on their own through spoolin up...
If I was smart... I could have done it this way (and what I recommend)
Denso Coils 02240 (for under cover) 02244 (for without cover). $100-$125 used if you can find them
Connectors (4 Toyota denso connectors @$28 + 2 Mitsubishi coil connectors @14 + shipping $5) = $49
Cut your own aluminum plate = $10 for plate
Buy water jet cut plate = $35
wire + hardware = $5
So, a total kit $189-$214
vs spoolin up used kit cost of $329 Save yourself over $120. (36%)

Spoolinup has the connectors, you only need the 4 for the coils, i hard wired it into my harness.
Yes YOU HAVE TO GET ORIGNAL OEM DENSO, most sellers sell the terribad after market coils which dont last, you must 100% oem denso coils.
