Hey guys, i know there might be alot of info on this but i'm not too Forum Shaby and everywhere i've checked i've had NO luck on finding out what needs to be done to make this work. I've found out that they are almost 100% the same but some of the water holes aren't there?? I'm still confused. I just want to know what to tell the machine shop once i send out my head with gasket.

You can use it as it is

The nine has more water channels flowing from the block to the head. So you cannot use an eight head gasket on a nine, but may be able to pull off a 9 head gasket on an eight. Why not just get the correct gasket?

 

evo9 gasket is just a bit thicker than stock 8 and works perfectly on evo8.

You can use a stock 8 headgasket on a 9 my buddy has one at 550 daily it actually raises the compression slightly also
