Help with another HKS cam ID

I have 2 hks intake cams which are supposed to be 272 intake cams for the evo 8. They both have HKS stamped on them and the following part numbers are on the cams:

( cam 1 ) A03 Y09

( cam 2 ) AM003 604

It seems cam 2 is most likely a 272 intake cam since the HKS part number is 22002-AM003 but if that is the case what is the "604" for and what is cam 1? I googled and searched HKS site but neither got me anywhere. Cam 2 is an older cam, cam 1 is a few years old but was still brand new in box. Thanks.

I would lean toward cam 2 being 272. I just sold a set of 272 cams an the intake cam was part # 22002-AM003 and 22002-AM004 for the exhaust cam. As far as the cam 1 you mentioned I have no idea. gl

I would say both cams are the same grind.
2202-AM003

264* duration, 10.3mm lift

The cam grinder may have just dropped the "M0" from cam 1

Seems on some cams HKS used an alpha-numeric date code, on other cams just a numeric code.

Are you sure on cam 1 that is a Y and not a sloppy F or another letter??

This would be the first HKS I have seen/heard off with a letter that high.

All the ones I have seen, or pics of, have had letters A- L

I would say cam 1 was ground in 2009 or if it is upside down? Aug 2006 ?

now cam 2 604 , would be June 2006

Yea I just looked again and it clearly looks like a Y. Also, if they are 22002 - AM003 I think that comes out to be a 272 and not a 264 correct?

No, the 003 is a 264 cam
006 and 005 would be the 272 cams

I just sold a set of HKS cams and the 22002- AM003 cam you mentioned was a 272 intake cam. Inside the box there was a HKS spec chart for there cams, I wish I still had it as it showed the part # for the 264 cam. I think the 264 cams were AM001 + AM002 . If you would like I can PM you the members name that bought the cams and he can tell you what the chart says. HTH
