Rear Differential Problems, Help!!

Hey Team,

Just want to firstly say thanks to people who have commented on my posts, you have all provided so much help and the feedback on here which is great. I hope to get to a point where im just reading posts instead of posting issues that day will come!

ok so... only had the car for 3 months.

I have 2 issues:

I have a cusco rear, centre and front... (im assuming they are 1.5)

1. On gentle take off, i cant slip the clutch when turning... it starts slipping the differentials in a bad way.. i can hear it. then get a burning smell, so the only thing i can do is just apply a small amount of power, clutch back in and then coast. once im moving its completely fine. OR take off with the wheels facing forward.

2. Second issue, again on take off, i cant go up any inclines in the road. does the same thing.... gentle take off, starts slipping the diff... but not in a good way. Is this all a result of the wrong oil?

thanks

Beau

If you smell anything other the 80/90 weight, then its your clutch. The diffs arent your issue.

yeah, its a brand new heavy duty excedy full face sport clutch...
just wouldnt expect it to slip.

and the smell does not smell like clutch at all, ive smelt alot of burning clutches, this smells very different, closer to a mechanical friction.

Has anyone had this issue?

Can the diffs pre-load (turned steering wheel as well) be set much too high?

could this put too much stress on the clutch on take off causing it to spin?

The wrong gear oil can cause all kinds of problems. I'd suggest you get with the LSD maker and find out what they recommend.
