Revs holding while at WOT

At WOT it will rev to 4k (sometimes higher), pause for a second then continue to rev. Doesn't always happen, only every two or three runs.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

my evo is mostly stock

Throttle hang doesn't happen while you're WOT. This isn't the same thing.

OP, does it feel like you aren't accelerating during that pause? Sounds like it might be the clutch slipping.

+1 for slipping clutch

Depending upon how heavily modded you are/ what fuel pump you're using it could also be fuel cut.

Does the engine sound like its breaking up, bogging down, anything like that...that would cause momentary lack of acceleration?

Alright, next guess is that you're misfiring. What plugs are you running/ how old are they? Mileage/ how old are the wires?
