Unsolvable random clutch disengagement problem

my issue is a random clutch disengagement. I can drive the car from first cold no problem, seems after 5min of street driving i will come to a stop and as im trying to start back up and disengage the clutch instead of its normal 3" off the floor it will randomly be 1" and the car will lunge forward or stall, if it surprises me. come to the next stop and its all back to normal. this will happen 3 out of 5 times.

this was with a pull exedy twin... so i changed the flywheel, converted to a triple.. used a push conversion purple cover.. got a tilton HTOB, got ARP flywheel bolts.. added a fluidampr pulley..(just because) AND installed a brand new OEM evo clutch master cylinder..

problem is still there.. what are the chances fluid gets passed the master cylinder and even a new one has issues? i have absolutely nothing else to blame right now.. insights??

did you bench bleed the master?

No, never saw the need to. Ive done this on plenty of other cars and never ran into this issue. when i bleed it, i have a pressure pump. so im forcing fluid through the system.

+1. I always pressure bleed and never have to bench bleed when I do.

Have you inspected the actual pedal assembly and adjusting rod to verify nothing odd is going on there? Have someone get in the car, pump the clutch in while you watch the slave cylinder do its thing, and see what it does when you duplicate the issue.

Maybe there is a bad thrust bearing in the engine.

Im using a tilton hydraulic tob to eliminate the slave. When I had the twin with pull and a slave the problem still happened..I have swapped just about everything.

I can start the car and sit there for a few minutes and go back and forward and nothing happens. Its after 5min of driving the problem pops up. I have adjusted the release rod plenty of times. My point of engagement is perfect when it does work fine.

yea the problem was there with my twin and pull system. Now its a triple and push pressure plate so wwhat are the chances both thrust washers are bad ?

likely slim and none or you would see metal in the oil and there would be crank walk you could see and likely would have noticed when installing the fluid damper--. Good luck

Well, yeah unlikely but what else is left? BTW, I'm not sure both surfaces would need to be bad for the problem to transfer from pull to push. Anyway, it is easy enough to check and rule out.

So I can say I ruled out the Master Cylinder now, it still does it but since im pushing more fluid at once i can catch it better somehow.. but its still slighty there and still random..

I installed a 3/4 Bore Wilwood and pedal throw is shorter and way firmer, feels great when it is working fine.
