Idle sometimes high or surging.

Not every time, but often when I'm going to be coming to a stop and I push the clutch in my idle either stays up higher than it should like 2000 or so usually or it will surge from normal idle speed to higher. Bouncing up and down. Usually ill push the clutch in and it will stay higher. Then when I come to a full stop it will usually bounce. It does not happen every time. But often and is annoying and embarrassing.

I recently changed the idle speed controller for a similar issue and it helped a bit but not completely.

Important note: the idle speed controller I replaced it with was one of the cheaper ones from Ebay but is supposed to work just fine in our cars.
I didn't want to spend the $300 something on an oem one. But I'm thinking I might have to. Help!?!?

sounds like an IACV or a MAF problem I would check those out. Since it looks like you have an 03 the IACV is generally weaker on those for some reason. I would look into a used evo 9 iacv. I picked one up for 40 bucks a while ago for my 03.

The MAF sounds more likely because when my iacv was dead my car just wouldn't idle at all when it was cold, but there was some surging i suppose.

I guess I'll check out another iacv.
My maf has been deleted.

you might wanna talk to whoever tuned your car with speed density, also has it been doing it since you got tuned or just randomly started happening?

when you got the new iacv it should have idled really high until your computer adjusted to it but it should have stopped by now.

i have heard somewhat bad things about the not oem iacv's though so it could be that still.

idle issues are always a pain in the rear so good luck.

It's been on this tune for a few years. Talked to the two owners prior to me. First one no problems with the same tune. Second one owned it for a short time. Knew of the idle issue. Said it was the iacv so I replaced it.
I'm guessing I need to get an oem iacv.
