No no, you are missing what I was getting at. Regardless of what brand of MTF you prefer, there are essentially two different types and five (or more) different grades of fluid. GL-4 and GL-5 seem to provide better protection and lubrication (than OEM GL-3), but they are "active" fluids, which means that they will eat brass. I misunderstood the benefit of using these synchros. I was hoping that these synchros were completely hard metal. I agree that they still offer a significant benefit, especially for those who are revving out their cars.

I am also not very well versed on the true benefit of using GL-4 or GL-5 over GL-3 for high HP and TQ applications, so forgive my potential ignorance. I wasn't trying to diss your product or anything. I merely misunderstood what was involved with these.

I thought that the point of the carbon material was that it negated the requirement that the synchros be a soft metal. I must have misunderstood something along the way.

Im confused when you say strength is irrelevant, so your saying which ever rebuild kit I get they are all the same?

No, certainly not. As SynchroTech said, these will do a better job of synchronizing shaft speeds in the transmission between shifts. Those who rev out their motors, now, will see a huge benefit from this. Strength is irrelevant in that these will not directly increase the overall power/torque capacity of the transmission (if I understand what is going on, and I hope that I do, as I am new to transmissions).

Still waiting for updates. Synchros sets were sent to Jacks, Shep, TRE and English Racing along with about 10 others that pre ordered from the first batch.

I'm waiting on a few things on my car before I send the trans out to TRE to have the carbon synchros installed.

Drove a fresh trans with a set on Saturday. Was a brief drive, so I can't say much except that they work. Owner may have comment soon.

What are the break in procedures for new synchros? I know when my trans is going in it'll have a new clutch, JDM 5th and a 4.08FD.
Easy shifting for a 1,000 or so miles, and then it takes roughly 5k miles for the synchros to break in before shifting feels "normal"?

We suggest the same as a new clutch. Go easy for the first 500-1000 miles then have fun!

My car is at English getting a rebuild with this kit. I should have it back by the end of the week and will report back when I do.

Hi!

Car is Evo5RS. What oil should i use with these carbon synchros?
I have Ralliart limited slip diff, so i have to use friction modifier with gear oil (Castrol Syntrans Transaxle 75W-90), will this work?

We have added the EVO synchros to our site to make it easier for everyone to place their order. This offer will close in January 2015. Please click this link or use discount code EVOM for 20% off the synchros. You can also use the code for 20% off a Master rebuild kit, LSD or FD set. We have the EVO 4/5/6/7 synchros available but it will be a few weeks before more of the 8/9 synchros are finished. You can go ahead and place the order now and we will ship as soon as more parts are finished. http://www.shop.SYNCHROTECH-TRANSMIS...tm?coupon=EVOM

We normally use Torco MTF and friction modifier but if the Castrol MTF works well with the OEM EVO synchros, it should be fine with the carbon synchros too.
