EVO 8/9 Synchrotech Carbon Synchros
The synchronizer acts as the brake for the gear. The carbon lining is more aggressive and stops the gear rotation faster than the brass ridges on OEM synchros, reducing shift grind at higher RPM. The type of MTF does affect how the transmission will shift and function. We have had the best results with Torco MTF or RTF.
I am also not very well versed on the true benefit of using GL-4 or GL-5 over GL-3 for high HP and TQ applications, so forgive my potential ignorance. I wasn't trying to diss your product or anything. I merely misunderstood what was involved with these.
Strength is totally irrelevant. If you eliminate the soft metal pieces in the transmission, then there is nothing stopping you from running whichever MTF that you so choose (unless I am missing something). However, it looks like the "new" synchros are still brass pieces with carbon material pressed in. Is this true? I thought that the point of the carbon material was that it negated the requirement that the synchros be a soft metal. I must have misunderstood something along the way.
Im confused when you say strength is irrelevant, so your saying which ever rebuild kit I get they are all the same?
No, certainly not. As SynchroTech said, these will do a better job of synchronizing shaft speeds in the transmission between shifts. Those who rev out their motors, now, will see a huge benefit from this. Strength is irrelevant in that these will not directly increase the overall power/torque capacity of the transmission (if I understand what is going on, and I hope that I do, as I am new to transmissions).

What are the break in procedures for new synchros? I know when my trans is going in it'll have a new clutch, JDM 5th and a 4.08FD.
Easy shifting for a 1,000 or so miles, and then it takes roughly 5k miles for the synchros to break in before shifting feels "normal"?

We suggest the same as a new clutch. Go easy for the first 500-1000 miles then have fun!
Hi!
Car is Evo5RS. What oil should i use with these carbon synchros?
I have Ralliart limited slip diff, so i have to use friction modifier with gear oil (Castrol Syntrans Transaxle 75W-90), will this work?

We have added the EVO synchros to our site to make it easier for everyone to place their order. This offer will close in January 2015. Please click this link or use discount code EVOM for 20% off the synchros. You can also use the code for 20% off a Master rebuild kit, LSD or FD set. We have the EVO 4/5/6/7 synchros available but it will be a few weeks before more of the 8/9 synchros are finished. You can go ahead and place the order now and we will ship as soon as more parts are finished. http://www.shop.SYNCHROTECH-TRANSMIS...tm?coupon=EVOM

We normally use Torco MTF and friction modifier but if the Castrol MTF works well with the OEM EVO synchros, it should be fine with the carbon synchros too.
