Fresh build, sitting for months, will the assembly lube still prevent dry start?

Fresh build, sitting for months, will the assembly lube still prevent dry start?

I have a built 2.3 that has been put together several months ago ( I think January, but work picked up and had to put my project aside). I ran into some unexpected delays in getting the motor into the car and fired up. My question is this, how long can the motor sit with assembly lube before I risk dry starting the motor? Is it dependent on what assembly lube was used? I do plan to prime the pump by drill before placing the motor into the car.

I think a few months will be fine. Like you said though, prime the pump with a drill for about 30 seconds, then rotate the engine by hand slowly a couple times, then prime a little more.

Prime the pump, and a squirt of oil into each cylinder won't hurt either...

Just get a 14 mm socket get the adapter for drill to run sockets 1/2 inch 3/8
, and have the drill turn the direction your engine rotates to get the oil flowing

Just thought I would add - Don't forget to put the timing belt back on before you rotate the Motor after rotating the oil pump with the drill motor. Hmmmm - the valves vs pistons thing / Cam timing!!!!

Might be obvious to some but you never know.

Thanks to all those who answered, I'm going to prime the pump twice 180* out two times. This makes me less worried.

If your timing belt is already on, you can also use an external pump through the oil filter housing bungs and bring it to full pressure without ever turning it over...

How do you accomplish this? Is there a special pump or adapter?
