Final note - you should put a $10,000 or more option. There are quite a few of us who went nuts when the Evo got here. I almost spent $4,000 on wheels and tires alone.

I was simply pointing out that I don't believe that 99% of Evos have been modified, because it doesn't match my personal observations. I guess if you consider using non-OEM replacements for consumables like oil, filters, tires, etc., to be modifications, you could be right. I apologize if you took offense.
It reminds me a bit of the RX-7 folks who complain that they can't find a stock unmolested 3rd gen RX-7 anywhere -- I think it's a bit strange for them to say that, when I have one meeting that description in my driveway. I think that the same is true of Evos -- there are a significant number of Evo owners out there who aren't involved in modifying their cars, who don't participate in these net forums, who use their Evo as a reliable daily driver, and who are quite happy with the car's performance in 100% stock trim.
Those of us who do modify our cars often think that everybody who buys a performance car must be just like us. I know better, because I owned and drove performance cars on a daily basis for over 11 years before I made a single modification.

There is something to be said about a clean stock car and simply enjoying it.
I have simple mods, but I wanted to drive the car purely for having a fast daily driver. I would have just modded the hell out of the mustang if I was really into modding my evo till it breaks.
I enjoy driving the car more than I work on it which is a change.
It is a pretty crazy world where more folks enjoy WORKing on their cars and standing around them more then driving them hard in a safe controlled manner on the track... But then again Most people enjoy shows like Jerry Springer and wrestling between makeup and pantyhose wearing boys in the WWF...

If you read a lot of the posts on this board of the guys who modify their Evo up the ying yang , you'll find they never keep ANY car very long, no matter how much power they make through mods, they're still unsatisfied , and in the end they start saying they need to get another car because the Evo just doesn't "do it for them anymore".
Grass is always greener on the other side ?
I love my Evo and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's my only car, and I thoroughly enjoy it every time I drive it, which is as often as possible. But the fact that it can be made even better with a few $k in bolt-ons is hard to resist. So I don't!
I doubt that I'm the only one here who has found the perfect car, but just wants to enjoy some of the extra potential it has beyond stock.

No car is fast enough... I told my wife when I bought this little rocket ...NO, this car is perfect it doesn't need at thing done to it. She laughed. So far in one year I have changed oil three times and thats it... she runs fine. Tire wear is about 80% at 10k miles. I am considering about three thou in mods. I want to be able to keep up with the new vettes and I like to drive fast.
I'm thorougly happy with my EVO, and no matter what happens mechanically to it, its FAR cheaper than my Porsche 951, that thing ate 26K in repairs and a cup suspension in one sitting! Now its sold and its my competition, so hehe with the bolt ons, this thing go ZOOM and with 4wd, its the most fun i've had. My .02
