yeah, don't you know? Apexi has these lightweight racing floor mats that give your EVO about 10hp increase in power.... they are the latest mods!

What I've spent since I bought it includes all the mods. What I've spent on maintenance alone is very little. The biggest expense were the tires at around $550. The rest of the stuff was a few oil changes, tire rotations and fluids check. Maintenance alone was probably under $900 including tires. Now the mods..... Well, thta's a different story altogether

I'm sure there are much more than 1% who have bone stock cars. Let's be generous and say that
has sold 6000 Evos in the US so far. You're saying there are less than 60 bone stock Evos out there?
I would guess that a minimum of 20% of Evo owners are unmodded -- that's purely a SWAG (silly wild-*** guess)... A lot of people don't want to deal with the warranty issues that come with modifying the car.

Its only the 1st time the EVO series hit the US with the 8 but in other parts of the world.. MMC has no warranty of any of the EVO generations.. think about it before you tell me off.. and please note that even changing the airfilter to a aftermarket panel filter is a mod.. or a MBC...
The topic of your thread is contradicts with your second post. If you are trying to determing if the Evo is a high maintenance vehicle you need to ask people how much they have spent on maintainance not mods. Maintainence would include stuff like brakes, oil changes, and the like. I have most certainly spent less than $1000 on maintenance alone. In fact, I won't hit the $1000 maintenace mark for quite a while.
Maintenance doesnt necessary mean repairs and servicing... have you ever heard the saying, "that babe is high maintenance?"... it doesnt mean she needs servicing (though we wouldnt complain
) but tends to mean she has a lot of wants and desires which we have to oblige... sorry.. maybe my english is a bit too deep...

I was simply pointing out that I don't believe that 99% of Evos have been modified, because it doesn't match my personal observations. I guess if you consider using non-OEM replacements for consumables like oil, filters, tires, etc., to be modifications, you could be right. I apologize if you took offense.
It reminds me a bit of the RX-7 folks who complain that they can't find a stock unmolested 3rd gen RX-7 anywhere -- I think it's a bit strange for them to say that, when I have one meeting that description in my driveway. I think that the same is true of Evos -- there are a significant number of Evo owners out there who aren't involved in modifying their cars, who don't participate in these net forums, who use their Evo as a reliable daily driver, and who are quite happy with the car's performance in 100% stock trim.
Those of us who do modify our cars often think that everybody who buys a performance car must be just like us. I know better, because I owned and drove performance cars on a daily basis for over 11 years before I made a single modification.
