Balancing the motor with the clutch

How important can this be? People change clutches all the time.

That's more of a V8 thing. Most 4 cylinder engines aren't balanced with the clutch.

I've always had my machine shop balance the flywheel and pressure plate together. They don't do it with the flywheel on the crank though, They just bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel, and zero out that assembly.
