Hey guys,
Got a weird noise coming from my stock 06 with 53k miles. I hear it between 2-2500 RPM and the best way I can describe it is a static noise that is uneven, not a constant ticking. I hear it in neutral when I rev to that range, driving normally, and even decelerating completely off throttle. I can't consistently reproduce but I'd say it happens pretty often.
Cars performance is otherwise normal, any ideas?

Does it sound kind of like a light metal rattle/buzz and goes away at about 3000 rpm?

 

Yeah, I just noticed it while cruising a little over 3k though. It's really inconsistent, sometimes I'll hear it nearly my whole commute and sometimes I'll hear it for a couple seconds and then not the rest of the way.. I think it may just be something loose like a heat shield.

 

Could be the balance shaft not clocked right
