I spent $3k on my mhi housing Red back in February. I felt it was kind of expensive when I ordered, and thought about just going the stainless housing route and spending the few extra hundred on the extra exhaust parts needed. But now that its on the car, and I've driven it, I do not regret it in the least. 27psi at 4150rpms in 3rd on a 2.0L feels pretty amazing. It makes me extra excited to build an English 2.2slr short block and crank the boost up.

if it weren't for the Blouch, etc. i'd say yes. but it's looking like there are options now and/or will be more in the future. tentatively. we'll see how they hold up.

FP just posted a picture on Instagram of a 3d printed O2 housing to mate up with a standard down pipe for the stainless housing..

I also have one of the last MHI housing Reds made last year. I've run it hard for 10 months so far and its worked really well. Mine makes 20psi by 3700 and 500whp on E85. Spool is close to stock and I'm still able to autocross the car. Daily driving is still a lot of fun although my car has a 4.11 gear and its a bit slower then it should be in the 1/4 mile.
I recently took it to an Autocross,a few laps of Daytona speedway and drag racing in the same day. I agree that the FP MHI housing option is pretty expensive but if it makes the car more versatile to drive then I'm all for it.

the 4.11 gearing helps the turbo spool at a lower rpm, but my theory is that it spools at the same mph as the stock gearing. Your car having mived gets it to spool faster. My trans is on its way back from TRE right now, with a 4.11 final drive. I'm excited to see if my theory is correct.

I never understood why FP couldn't do this before, since it had already been done on their old DSM FP 3052&3065 turbo kits. Kudos to them for listening to their supporters and getting a more practical solution in place.
