Why do you say that? I made 580whp on a single 255 and PTE 1000cc injectors. He said 93 pump gas not E85
OP I don't see any mention of valvetrain components to run those cams. Do you have springs/retainers already?

I would not run 550whp worth of boost on 93 and I also would not do it on a stock block. However you can most likely do it but the engine will be on borrowed time. You could be a lucky guy and never have an issue or an unlucky guy and it will **** a rod out. Build the motor and run E85 and do it safely for ever.

On pump gasoline, a single Walbro 255 has been used to obtain this type of power, but the rail pressure begins dropping before this point with the flimsy factory wiring. This goes unnoticed unless the car is on a dyno and FP is monitored. Decreasing rail pressure does no favors for power or reliability, and is unacceptable.
The smart move is to get a wiring (power and ground) upgrade kit that ensures 14V+ at the pump under WOT conditions, and this should be checked. With an upgrade to the wiring and fuel lines, a single Walbro 255 with full voltage and unrestrictive lines can manage around 600whp on gasoline with sharp tuning...everything else permitting.
As for generating north of 500whp with a well-worn stock block, I'll just make the point that it always costs significantly less to build the engine before it breaks.
Just FYI

It depends on what kind of 550whp you are after. If it is 550whp dynojet figures you want , then yes a 1000cc inj, a hardwired 255 walbro pump can do the job. If its 550 mustang low reader whp you are aiming for, then my advice is to get a bigger pump, such a 400 walbro on harwired kit and 1200cc injectors, or even better a walbro 255 hardwired and an inline 044 bosch pump also hardwired and 1200cc injectors. On injectors you could also go bigger for a bigger safety margin, less stress on them. The objective when building a fuel system for a certain hp figures, is to be able to run the fuel needed as effortlessly and safely as possible but also to get the advantage of running a bit more power in the future if decided without any sort of issues. Under 800hp at the fly, there is no need to change fuel lines, but an upgraded fuel rail and fpr is needed.
