Exclamation Bottom end swap set for 10/15 & I need your help!!!

Ok, first things first. I have a 2003 EVO 8 5speed GSR.
I currently have blow-by & what I assume to be, lifter tick.
Comp test is about 80psi across the board.
The car has just over 56k on original bottom end.
I'm pushing about 545hp/406tq @30psi on E85.

I ordered a new OEM bottom end, OEM oil pump, OEM water pump & TopLine lifters. Which should be arriving some time this week.
I also have a new cosworth crank scraper & kiggly racing HLA plate to install.
I'm looking to do the swap next Thursday 10/15 through Sunday 10/18.

I'm trying to find out any and all oiling modifications that I can do to the motor & head before I throw everything together & install it.

Is there specific casting flash I should knock down/off, in the head or block?

Should I polish any specific surfaces or passages?

Any & all information/links/break in tips/personal experience is appreciated!!!

On a side note;
I'm also in the works of filming the 4 day event, in my garage, via time laps video.

Why did you spend all that money on an OEM short block?

There were a few reasons I opted for a new OEM block. Minimal downtime of vehicle.
The fact that I can take out the factory block. Send it out to be built up w/ new parts. While I still have a running & driving car. Then when the 2nd OEM block rings crap out(or whatever), I can send that one out to be built, all while having a freshly fully built one on hand. & then repeat!

I agree, why spend money on oem bottom end? At your power level, you'll just end up where you are now again. Should have just gone forged bottom end and got a rental car for a week. Good luck, hope it does work out for a while at least.

I agree with the previous posts about using another OEM block. Only way I would do it is if you knew someone with one and got a good deal. You're going to be putting something in, that at your power levels, you are just waiting for something to happen to again.

I was similar power and just broke a rod. One mess up on stock block and over boost or something like that and you're likely to do damage. I wouldn't risk it.

Plenty of shops will send you a motor, and you send yours back once you get it....

I wanted a spare bottom end, so I got an OEM one.
Instead of paying a core charge of 2k+ & then spend another 3-5k on parts and machine work & weeks of waiting. I figured this would be my best rout to go.

So instead of criticizing me for buying a spare motor...

How about we jump back to my original post & everyone flood me w/ information on what I'm looking for! 😉
