How much power can my bottom end hold? Help!!
Hey guys I just started getting into Evos and I traded in my 04 sti for an 06 Evo 9. I spun a rod bearing and warped the crank so I'm having a Manley crank and eagle forged rods put on. I know that it comes stock with forged pistons so I'm just wondering how much power it should hold? Any opinions? Thanks!
It depends on a lot of factors. I still can't for the life of me see why people rebuild a bottom end and put in Eagle rods. From everything I've read and seen people run the stock rods up to around 4-450 (some more, some break at less) and Eagle not much higher than that, 500 maybe? There are a lot of rods you can get for a few hundred more that can hold almost anything you can throw at them. The stock crank has been used on cars putting out over 800hp with no issues also.
I think the response was saying while the Eagle rods may be fine for the intended setup, other options may provide more "headroom" should your setup change in the future.
I have heard people say - "do it right or do it twice" and I believe that is what 05blue8 is trying to prevent.
