While I have a Profec B, I'd recommend either a Hallman RX Pro for an MBC or the Turbosmart E-Boost.

The Profec B does a decent job but it could spool a bit faster and the boost isn't ROCK steady like I'd like.

I'm using Blitz Type-R Dual Solenoid and very happy with it. It has 4 setting memories and very easy to switch between them. It costs around $400. Hope this help.

Hey PinoyEvo, I have the same questions, about getting mbc or ebc like the hks or blitz. It just seems like a hell of a price difference for doing the same thing in the end. I definately would prefer consistent though!

i had the profec b in for a while and just recently switched to a mbc. the mbc seems to hold boost steady with out the complications of the ebc- maybe it is just because i got frustrated by being unable to peg solid settings on the prfec

I'm going to do the same thing. the Profec B still doesn't hold perfect boost; I think it's just not designed for cars with internal wastegates.

I'm replacing mine with a Hallman RX Pro.

I just installed the HKS EBC V PSI model. It was pricy but I think it was worth it.

I have tinkered just a bit with it but it seems to hold boost rock solid.
I have mode A set to 18 and B to 20.5.

The PSI model has a feature called offset. It says it improves spooling time.
But I haven't playing with that feature yet.

My only "complaint" is that the display is very dim. It is hard to see in daylight.
I hope it's not my unit; that I have a defective one.

Anyone out there with HKS EBCs notice the same problem ??
Somebody tell me I'm not alone...

The best we have used to date on the Evo are the EVC5, SBCID's from Blitz and the Power Enterprise.

I have not been happy with the Profec B on an Evo yet

I have the offset feature in my HKS EVC and don't know what it is! so, what is offset for in EVC?

btw, I have the older version of EVC ATM and it's been really good. steady boost hold till red line. one drawback is that i have to reprogram it everytime i add other mod. EVC need to learn new boost curve. I think this reprogram thing is only for the older version though.

According to the instructions, the offset function is used to control the wastegate sensitivity, for
lack of a better term.
You can set the offset from 10% to 200%. Default is 100%.
Increasing the offset increases spoolup (according to them).
It would seem to hold the wastegate fully closed till the last instant when you reach desired
boost level before opening.
Of course, this is how I assumed it worked normally.
I have not verified this. It would seem to be a problem with spiking, but the HKS is pretty
quick with adjusting the boost pressure and keeping on top of it.

How is your display brightness ??? Is it just me ???

I "had" profec B & profec B spec 2...they both suck on EVO. Now running Hallman Pro RX.

Profec B, the car ran ok in beginning, but then it wouldn't bulid boost properly & couldn't hold it. Figured it was old & bought Spec 2.

Spec-2, ran great for 3 mths, then my car started to feel flat & boost was consistant, spooled good then didn't spool good. And boost was steady.

Hallman, car spooled 80% better & holds steady in 3rd gear.

I'm sticking with the Hallman!
