ACT or COMP CLUTCH?
I am looking to get a new clutch for my 5 speed Evo 9. Currently the car is pushing 424 hp 418 tq. I am debating between ACT ME2-HDSS or Comp Clutch sprung stage 3, looking for something DD friendly and some track time on the wknds. All inputs will be much appreciated.

Get the ACT, but you might need the XTSS to hold the torque you're making.

go with act.
i ran the basic cover & ran the 6 puck sprung disc & it held >550 wtq/dyno jet
i used a basic cover with the street disc & then moved onto the sprung puck disc when i went with a 2.3L... for my old knees, the hdss pp was a little too much for me as i dd my evo, so i tried something lighter in feel & went to the clutch listed below.
i used the comp stg 2 ...... shifted worse than stock, god forbid if you ever slipped the clutch accidentally, the smell was fkn horrible & it shifted worse than stock regardless of all the tinkering.
Here are my rpm limits while retaining good / effortless shifting.
oem @ ~7800 rpm on oem 2.0L, never really went much higher @ the time.
act w/sprung street disc ~8,000 on oem 2.0 & 2.3L 8k was my basic limit on 2.3L, I generally shifted ~7800 due to stroke, but engine still made power beyond 8k
act w/sprung puck disc 8,300 = never went higher due to stroke.
comp stg 2 w/solid disc @ ~7,200 rpm with no hassle. anything higher in revs, you had to wait & wait, all the while thinking "what a fkn mistake this clutch was"
exedy twin @ ???? never a problem @ any rpm for me.
Granted, many people have differing experiences, i am simply sharing my unbiased opinion / experiences.

I have ACT right now not sure which one because it was installed by the previous owner. I've always had problems with 3rd at high revs to the point that right now I have no 3rd or 4th and getting it upgraded by sheptrans in the next few weeks.
I was just wondering about Comp Clutch just to try something different and I've heard good things about them.

I have the Comp Stg 2 sprung, granted making just under 400 wtq. I agree, it doesn't like being slipped and will make the burnt smell. I haven't had any real issues with shifting, but I also shift around 7.2-7.3K tops. I think with this clutch you have to adjust the pedal perfectly, otherwise you get shift issues. Once I followed the sheptrans adjustment video, it was much better. My only recommendation is to stick with the OEM throw out bearing. The comp one works, but I do get a little rattle at idle, not huge.

Comp stage 2 sucks stay away. I have it and want a new clutch just from the smells it will make when you barely slip it too much. And high rpm shifting sucks as well

I was having the same issues with my ACT that's why I was thinking about switching. Everybody is saying to stay away from the Comp stage 2 but the one I was looking at getting is the stage 3
