For the price of a SS Black I'd personally rather have a T3 kit (flexibility) .

Having gone T3 I would never consider going back to a stock frame set up.

So if I had to choose between your options I'd go MHI

Also I'm running a 2.4. Goal is to keep it a dd with 500whp would the red be a better option?

What fuel are you planning on running? If e85 is available, you could make 500 with an fp green and torque to match. With great spool.

I'm on e85 but was leaning towards the black so I have room to make more if I decided on it later on

Not a bad idea, as long as you decide to go that route.
A lot of people over-do the turbo because they plan on eleventy billion hp, until they realize how hard ($$$$) it is. LOL.
Then they wish they would have gotten something less laggy.

What's the lag like for a black with a 2.4 got any idea?

personally id rather get an fp red for that power level

my fp red dbb is a great street turbo that puts down 500whp on a mustang dyno

worst case scenario is that you want more power and you sell the red to buy the next turbo

Not too bad if you have a 2.4. But why not have something that meets a realistic goal and spools faster?
Win/win and more of a "wee" factor LOL

SS housing will spool about 500rpm slower, but make about probably 50 more HP up top.

Hell I bought a black kit for less then 1400 bucks, thats half the price of a T3 kit, lags relative, Im used to dealing with a HTA86 on a stock block evo 8 lol.

If you go with an OEM style turbo, I have no idea why you'd opt for a SS housing. Just my 2 cents.

I honestly think sales of fp turbos have plummeted since the intro of ss housing. more expense, not stock appearing, slower spool. seems it would only appeal to autocross guy that was burning up MHI housings.
