I think they're both fun, in their own way.
I had my 9 SE since new and always loved the stock turbo! I had CBRD tune my 71HTA and GSC S2 cams car, night and day and honestly a street machine and totally fun I don't need a big turbo to have fun on the streets!

ive found that more power doesnt always equal more fun

for me i want enough power that i dont worry about traction issues unless i want there to be traction issues

i want a car i can hop into and its not a rattle trap

i want a car that is reliable

you wont find most of those traits in an evo unless its a well thought out build IMO

I'd say my old White Rabbit turbo was one of the most fun turbos I've had on the 2.0. The OG Green was laggier (bigger turbine and no TiAl wheel).

I am hoping the BB Red with 2.3 gives me back some of the fun of the White Rabbit with the ability to pull up top.

I sold my 71HTA and am doing the new Green. I'm hoping to not loose much response while gaining some top-end power on pump gas.

Also: if you send in your housing for the 71hta "upgrade", it's $50 cheaper than buying the CHRA and doing it yourself. LOL

That's what I'm hoping for. The HTZ is supposed to spool the same but flow 57lb/in instead of 54. I'm stoked.

**edit: looks like the new green flows almost as much as the old red.

I'm pretty happy with my high compression 2.2 Fp Red combo. Makes power/torque everywhere and with E85 being so cheap and available all over central Florida you can have big power all the time. It makes 20psi in any gear by 3800-4000 and goes well to 8000ish. It also makes over 400tq from 3800-7800 on high boost.
I've been able to do anything on this turbo up to this point. Daily driving is fun with a responsive turbo, and you can auto x, open track, 1/2 mile race, drag. The drivetrain seems to live well below the 600whp mark IMO. I've got an act clutch that is silent and the car spools pretty close to stock. I've valeted my car and my girlfriend has driven it a number of times. I've also driven 300-400 miles a weekend with no issues.

That new FP 54 with Mhi housing looks like a good inexpensive turbo for the money.

All these options make me want a car for each purpose. I'll go a little further with what I'm aiming for at the moment. More highway than back roads. Maybe a few track trips a year. Able to outrun this cocky brand new Z06 in my area and put a tear on his face. Weekend cruising but more dd in the summer. 50/50 between 93 and e85. Wanna use fitronic. Great transient response. Was thinking 6266 t4 twinscroll 1.00 or 1.15 with an r2 cam. I wish they made the 6262 in a twinscroll 1.00 that would sweet. Stock frame would be couple thousand cheaper than a t4 twinscroll but I really have my mind set on a twist scroll setup and I don't see a stock frame twinscroll anymore to get me there.

Precision definitely has twin scroll options for most of their turbos.

What would the benefit be of an 8374 over a 6266 be? Both twinscroll of course. The efr looks like a pita to install and cost quite a bit more with just the turbo alone.

It will have a better powerband and transient characteristics than really any other turbo at 650whp.
