Bang sound

Not sure where to put this.... So hope this is the correct spot, but anyways I was racing my Evo 9 rs this weekend and when I wot I hear a bang in the rear of the car, sounds as if you hit a pot hole with a blown strut but it only happens when shifting fast/changing gears and dumping the clutch is there a bushing that goes out back there?

It's the bushings for the rear diff. You can either live with the bang, because it's "normal". Or replace the stock bushings with polyurethane, which could cause you to hear some gear noise/whine at certain speeds.

we use harder rubber rallart bushings for the diff... as I am no fan of polyurethane.. it does make the diff whine noticeable in the cabin at WOT though, but no more bangs when shifting.. Maybe, if you were to only change the front mounts you might loose the BANG and not get the diff whine..

Yes oddly enough the noise you hear is one of the "normal" noises for an Evo. Mine did it while completely stock, after some mods I got tired of it and changed the bushings out. No more clunk but you do hear the whine more. 3 inch straight pipe takes care of that
