Because on throttle, both port from the valve cover are being vented into the turbo inlet. Off throttle, it has a PCV valve that opens and allows the vacuum from the intake manifold to keep crank case pressure under control.

Also, my fp red is journal bearing, so i don't have that oil leak issue.
No I'm running 93. I also have a jb turbo. I didn't know there was water issues with e85. Makes sense because ethanol would have a small percentage of water in it. Good to know I plan to go flex fuel.

The STM Can is a sealed system. The difference between a sealed vs vent to atmosphere can is like the difference between a turbo charged engine and naturally aspirated in reverse. Instead of pushing air in to the motor a sealed system uses the turbo to pull air out of the crank case. A VTA system just lets air vent all nauterale. Wich means there is always going to be a very small amount pressure in the crank case to push air out. And since we all drive turbo cars I think we could all agree that turbocharged is better.

Just took a look at it again and I understand the difference now. You seem to have experience in the area, you think I should try the catch can before the valve cover mod? I'm currently on stock PCV set up.

The way STM sets this up, you don't need the valve cover mod.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm pretty much sold on this can. Now, I have to justify $600ish for this kit. Not saying it's not worth it, but that's a lot of money. I dumped a good bit of money into the car this winter. It's not if at this point, but when. Decisions, decisions.

Sucks for me I need to buy the USDM VIII valve cover to use it. I have a JDM VIII which has same valve cover as the VII. I need a new valve cover anyway because of a small crack so time to find over a grand for a cover and this catch can lol.

^ have you driven the car to notice a difference? Were you having crankcase pressure issues prior to install? Looks quality by the way.

I had blue smoke on downshifts on my fp zero. Just drove it yesterday but am not able to 100% tell a difference since I changed so much over winter.

That's a ball bearing turbo, correct? Were you blowing the dipstick out before? Leaky valve cover? That's my problem. I have a journal bearing red, so no problem there. I'm just curious what steered you toward the stm.

The old setup was just VTA where I drilled out the side of my valve cover. After speaking with STM and FP about why I was getting crankcase pressure and smoke, FP advised they would take a look at the turbo only if I had a correct crankcase ventilation system. And VTA was not it.

The dipstick never actually popped out, but it almost did as itwas unseated. And yes, it's ball bearing.

I have also spoken with FP and STM. I got the same information. So I guess that's good. One last question. What's the third port on the front of the stm can? Thanks.
