Evo VIII backfire with aftermarket exhaust

There use to be a post of an Evo backfiring and it was said that the only mod was a turbo back exhaust. How true is this? Does anyone have the video that was floating around, or a different video of such a thing. I'm not talking about misfire systems or anti-lag systems, these were normal street cars with no cats and full exhausts

I'm curious how true this is, i really wouldn't like driving in front of a cop and have a fireball spit from my tailpipe

Without a cat, you can expect to throw flames occasionally. It happens when you have a lot of hot unburned fuel in the exhaust -- it hits the end of the tailpipe (and the atmospheric oxygen) and you get flames.

What about with high-flow cats? Does it happen with those too?

It shouldn't as the purpose of the cat is to "burn" any unburnt fuel that the engine didn't need, hence lower emmissions
