Knocking and shutting off

Hey people i need help. So i have an evo 8 03 it was running good untill my dumb *** reved it to much to high. It was good for like 5 mins then i started noticeing a knockong noise not to loud but only could hear when i was about 3000rpm i drove it about 10 miles i came to a stop to make a turn. On that turn something loud popped and lost steering wheel power then the car just turn off. I tried cranking it, it wouldnt start. I checked the timing belt in case it was that i checked the serpentine belt and they both seem to be good. So i was thinking it could be a bent rob hopefully not fingers cross. But what would you guys think it is before i take things apart. Any suggestions i should check or do before anything please anything would help. Thank you

Drop the pan and check the rods. I suspect you will find one rod at the big end discolored.

Wondering why the REV limiter didnt limit it? How high did it REV to?

Wondering if something, other than the bottom end, has failed?

I wonder that too and it past 7000 about 8500 highest. After that the car had a little jump like if i had stalled but it stayed on.

The heat signature is a clue that maybe that the crank bearing has spun. Its not a matter of changing that one out, youre looking at a full bottom end rebuild

Also, if you in fact, hit 8500 on the stock bottom end, I would say that you could have damaged the engine. Ive hit the REV limiter a few times (7300 rpm) & have immediately backed off & up shifted or went to neutral

Well, dont jump to conclusions. It may not be a spun bearing at all. Maybe something relatively minor

Keep us posted

So yeah i inspected everything possible before taking things apart. Everything looked good took off valve cover in case somethibg came off nothing so i drain the oil it looked clean but then i toke off the oil pan and yup pieces of metal where on the oil pan so i checked the my rods 3 of them where good one had no play at all (side to side) they were all clean but the one with no play i took off the connecting rod cap and yeah the bearings where out of place really really bad all scratch up so now i need to take out the engine
