4g63 block need help

Hey guys,
pretty new to Mitsubishi but I am in need of a new block. My old evo 4 one blew and found another one but was damaged as it had previously been in an accident, now my question is Can i use a talon bare block and swap all the Evo **** over as i have a good motor Just need a block and would the Head line up correctly from the Evo as well? Just curious if someone out There has knowledge on the matter as i had been trying to track down an Evo short block n come up with nothing close to where i am.

thanks

The talon engine faces the driver's side fender.

Talon motor wont work, it is an evo 4 if it were a 3 it would be ok 4 is where they 180ed it around. I would look for a 4-8 motor being they are facing the correct way.

No the gallant is the same as the 2g dsm. I know this being way back I ordered a jdm engine when my talon motor went. I ended up getting a vr4 engine out of a gallant which had 510cc injectors and a big 16. Needless to say your going to have to find something more newer. I know with the evo8 you can use a 2.4 block out of a few different cars and it will bolt right up with some modifications. Being you have an evo 4 it is going to be trickey to track one down. Your best bet is to do a simple rebuild of your motor. The best bet is if there isn't a hole in the block just take it to a machine shop have it machined and get .20 over pistons, use the stock rods and crank if not damaged and reuse whatever parts you may have. Obviously timing stuff will need to be replaced being you don't want a larger headache by not doing that. Being your car was in an accident I would reuse whatever is good still, turbo, oil pump, water pump etc. That will save you in a pinch or if you have the funds find a place that sells parts and get them new. That to my knowledge will be the cheapest most cost efficient thing to do being I don't know anyone who sells evo4 parts at all.

Again the gallant and the evo3 stuff is interchangeable, evo 4 not so much motor is turned 180* therefor nothing will fit.

I currently have an Evo 4 engine in my car that I'm about to take out to put my built engine in. I'll be taking the head off but the short block is stock. I'll have it out and up for sale soon.
