Stripped Coil Bolt on Valve Cover

So I over tightened one of my coil bolts on the valve cover last time I changed my plugs. It still threads in, but won't tighten completely though, it's not necessarily loose either. Anyone else done this? And any ideas how difficult it is to retap the valve cover if I took it to a machine shop? There's two other bolts, so it's not a huge deal, but I was also thinking about upgrading to the Spoolinup setup in the future, and unfortunately I stripped the one bolt the COP uses.

Helicoil for, like, $10. I've done two of mine. I think Harbor Freight has a cheap kit.

Fill with epoxy
Re drill the hole
And tap the hole, like new until you can make other arrangements

Or take the bolt to your local hardware supply and ask them for the next size up, buy the drill and tap to match, and that should fix your issue because you can fit a slightly bigger bolt in the coil hole.
For future reference use your index finger and your thumb to tighten bolts like that, you'll never strip one again..

You can get longer bolts of the same size. THe valve cover Coil Holes are deep. Home Depot carries the same pitch and size thread bolts in various sizes. Had to do this myself for the ******* who stripped all mine out. But a quarter inch longer bolt will work. Use smallest wrench/ratchet to tighten.

Figure out the tread pitch and retread it. Should be easy, the most difficult part is maybe determine what the thread pitch is.

You're saying there are threads beyond the standard bolt size?

It's held in by two other bolts. I'm really not worried about it. More of planning ahead for a possible COP setup later.

That's exactly what I am saying. The stock bolts only go in about 2/3 to 3/4ths the way. You can get longer bolts from Home Depot. Take one of your stripped bolts in a match for pitch. I used to know off the top of my head what size and pitch it was, but can't think exactly at the moment. But you can get various lengths in the Bolt Drawers at Home Depot.

Hell, I found Aftermarket Throttle Body Allen Hex Head Bolts at Home Depot....

I had it re-threaded in 5 minutes

And THEN i changed those to black TiTanium ones

Lancershop has the TiTanium ones.. color options too.
