A 3" downpipe is a waste of time, shadow1? Wow, that's not true.

I'd highly recommend a full 3" turbo back, and we do sell 2.5" downpipes, but it you are going to do it do it once and get it over with.

As a side note, ANY mofication to the factory cat is illegal, so if you are going to modify it or remove it you have already broken the written law on cats.

Check out our website if you want the lightest highest flow exhaust on your EVO.

David, I never implied that a 3" DP is a waste of time. In fact, a full 3" setup is probably the best way to go. But for those of us running JDM exhausts, they all neck down at the cat flange. So, the way I see it, why go from a 3" DP only to neckdown to 2.5 or 2.75" (depending on the catback) at the cat flange? I suppose the best setup would be to cut off the neckdown and have a full 3" flange welded on.

shadow1, from post #195 you said this:

"I would not go with a 3" DP - waste of time." I would say that you did say it is a waste of time

I would highly recommend cutting any restictor out of the exhaust and making it a full 3" or just trade it in and sell the old stuff.

I would not pretend to know more than the legendary David Buschur. I was specifically answering another Evo owner's question that had an HKS catback. HKS has a big time neckdown at the cat flange (stock size, whick is 60mm). Hence my statement saying that a 3" DP would be a waste. Even my Tanabe catback is 72mm at the cat flange.

What kind of gains would get if you got a down pipe and kept you stock exhaust? all i have is a dynoflash mail in flash and a k&n drop in. In other words, is it worth it?

Changing the downpipe and nothing else on the car will get you nothing.

was wondering if the BuchurRacing 3in SS DP flanged for non-BR cat-delete/hfc will bolt up to stock cat (temporarily), until i get a 3in test-pipe/hfc?
-or-
does the BR 3in SS DP w/cat delete come with a cel fix and will bolt up to non-BR 3in cat-back exhaust?

thanx

Anyone have anything against the LS 3 inch dp with flex? http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...pa<br /> ge=1
Only bad thing bout the flex is that it would make some turbulence but in turn its better for the engine as it suppresses all of its movements. Feedback appreciated.
