Could be but if I remember correctly all the jdm valve covers were red. I know when I got a jdm motor for my talon back in the day it was out of a galant and had a red valve cover.

 

JDM Evo 1-3 valve covers were not red. They were the same color as 2g DSM; this valve cover has been painted black.

The pictured engine is a late 7-bolt (G4S), looks like the Evo intake, and has a TD05H turbocharger. My guess, it is Evo. Get the numbers off the back of the block to be sure.
