I have a 2003 Evo 8. Has 135k miles. Has a cranking issue. So far I have replaced the starter and the ignition switch and the problem continues. The problem is that the motor will bit turn over when you turn the key, once in a while it starts right up on the first try. The parts were carquest parts from advance auto parts and not oem replacements but i have a hard time believeing that it's that because the issue didn't change from the original oem parts to aftermarket parts. Car does have a Clifford matrix alarm but I don't think it's that. There also seem to be some after market grounds running around. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

Pull the start wire (wire from the ignition switch) off of the starter and check for power on that wire when the ignition switch is turned to start.
