So I'm doing a motor swap due to a blown motor. I took out the old motor, trans, and transfercase all together. I'm trying to take off the transfer case and it won't budge past a certain point. All bolts have been taken off and the transfer case itself has slid forward about an inch like it going to slide off but that's all it'll go. I'm not sure what else it could be and I've tried looking it up and can't find anything. Any info that points me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated

I've only unbolted the transfer case from the trans and took those two c clips off the ends of the shafts. Other than that I can't get anything to move.

like LGTD said, you need to get a slide hammer on that output shaft and pop it out from the transmission side. Just look around for a DIY article on doing the clutch job and you will see what we are talking about. Thats what the threaded hole in the middle of the shaft is for.
you might be able to get creative.... but a slide hammer is probably the easiest way. You can get them super cheap from a harbor freight or equivalent. You will also need to grab a bolt that will thread into the shaft.
Yes as mentioned slide hammer easy peasy. Forget the thread size and pitch what LGTD sounds right but I know the bolts for the radiator brackets are the correct size as thats what I always end up using.
Im sure you could rig up some sort of puller but a slide hammer works perfect. I use a bolt and a large washer and the slide hammer with those claw things couple good wacks and its out.
I ran into the same issue when pulling my TCASE, you need a slide hammer to remove the output shaft from the driver side. takes like 10 secs to remove it with a slidehammer.
This is the one I bought but I'm pretty sure you can rent one from your local auto store.
Bolt size should be an m8x1.25 iirc. If it doesn't want to come out easily with a slide hammer, consider buying a new shaft, once the splines get a little goobered up they have a hell of a time splining together and compressing the snap ring properly. New shaft is only like $60 too so it's a cheap way to avoid a headache.

That slide hammer you linked would work great using one of those L brackets. Drill a hole through the end and stick the bolt through it and screw it into the half shaft and youll be golden.
I should just buy one already bc I end up renting one from AZ and while it works fine its got these claw things and it can be annoying at times to keep it on the washer/ bolt head.
I can see the puller method Kiki mentioned being handy if youre in a pinch and dont have a slide hammer but have misc hardware. Maybe I'll try that method next time around.
