Evo 8/9 Rear Axle Upgrade Options

Recently tore a boot on my driver side front axle. Seems like a good opportunity to replace both front axles since replacement boots are $60 per boot and it's a messy, PITA job. Likely going to go with 900HP or Stock Replacement DDS axles.

However, I can't find any vendor that has upgraded rear axles - other than the 2k+ 3000 gt diff conversion axles.

Are there really no options for a 700-900HP rear axle for evo 8/9?

I suggest stockish axles bro.

My reason?

You need to have something to break first and cheaper.
Id rather break an axles first before my Built tranny or Built Transfer case of Rear Diff.

That's my opinion.

Shep Trans has upgraded rear axle/hub kits on their website. Theyre expensive but are about 1700 which is still cheaper than a conversion (by your quote). I have seen buschur racing have them on their website as well.

You can probably contact a lot of the shops in your area as they may also have solutions

I think Insane Shafts makes some. I recently replaced my rears with the regular 500hp set (only $400), but I'm pretty sure they make a 1000hp set as well. GL

No issues at all... all good. I was really pleased, especially for the price. Can hardly buy used ones for what I paid.

I know people run stock axles all the time to 800+ hp. If you know how to preload the drive and reduce shock there doesn't seem to be much issue.

I'm wondering if "500 hp" are stronger than stock axles, I'm assuming that they are. Thus I would conclude that if driven properly, they can hold much more "horsepower" than 500 and thats just what insane shafts/driveshaft hope warrantys them for.

I would agree with that. No manufacturer is going to rate something right up to its maximum capability.

I don't do any drag racing, or launching for that matter, I'm a road racing guy. So I can't really attest to their capabilities in that scenario.

I think their 1000hp axles are still only $900.
