Wow that is a very complicated setup you have there. If it works it works lol.

Alright so i got a quick question to make sure I am not having a brain fart, I received shipping instructions from TRE, should I just send him my transmission even though he has not yet contacted me? I dunno how he does his business but I usually get in contact with someone before I start sending them anything but I understand he is quite busy and I would rather get it shipped sooner rather than later. I just want to make sure im holding back my own process by waiting for something thats not coming.

I think they send out that info automatically. When I emailed for a quote, I got an email for shipping instructions, but never heard back with the quote. I'd make contact with him just to be sure.
I emailed Shep, Jack's, and TRE for a basic rebuild on my 5spd. Shep and Jack's were the only ones to reply and Shep was cheapest so I'll be sending mine there. Hopefully, you hear something soon. It's a shame some of these vendors are so busy they are hard to do business with. The price the customer pays, for a guy that does a good job, I guess.

I wanted to talk to him specifically so that I can understand what he does vs Jack's. Because some of what jack's website says sounds like overselling what they do for marketting purposes, however I still like them. I may have to send it to them because the clock is ticking and I would like to get the trans back in as soon as possible.

I wanted my transmission in the car as quickly as possible so I bought a new one. Shipping was a couple of days from STM.

TRE is only the shop that does gear detailing and shot peening. If you want the best built trans, send it to him. He also soda blasts the cases, instead of using spray paint, so the paint doesn't melt off when you use brake cleaner on it...

Try contacting him again, he is difficult to get ahold of, but that because it's just him and Aaron at the shop, and they turn out a lot of work.

You can also try calling. He'll talk to you for an hour if you can get him on the phone. lol

^This! Don't give up and dont send your drivetrain stuff anywhere else! It'll be worth the wait unless of course you enjoy dropping the trans all the time. There are so many things that he does that other shops do not do. He goes through these things with a fine tooth comb and anything that needs to be addressed he takes care of. I received a 2 page .pdf of everything that was replaced on my trans.

Jon is an honest hard working guy. Get him on the phone and he'll take care of you.

I understand that most people only have the highest praise for him and personally I would prefer to go with his shop. I have not yet tried being annoying to see if he would respond. I can do that also. Have you guys had specific times that you seemed to have good luck getting through to him?

I've found that he is most likely to answer the phone in the morning.

I realized I have not gotten a phone number from him and there is no way to find it via website. I am going to try to email TRE tomorrow morning and hopefully he responds. I am willing to wait for quality for a point but I would like to be able to keep moving forward and get the car on the road/track again. I would prefer not to go with an OEM trans either as I would have to get it rebuilt anyway in the next year or two for engine build reasons.

I just got off the phone with Jon and I dont want to take my transmission anywhere else now. Now im just pissed that I didnt choose to go to competition in Michigan because I would be leaving today and I could get him my trans tomorrow .
Because the car sees a lot of highway driving, track work, and auto-X, I think I am going to go with a 4.11 FD although It may bring the straight line speed down on the track. I know how hot transmissions and parts get, and I have the space for a heat exchanger, would it make sense to install one for the transmission or would it make more sense to prioritize a different system's cooling?
I do plan on eventually building a 2.2 with lots of custom goodies (you will probably see this coming late summer in the motorsports section) , Is there anything I am missing that you all recommend for a hopefully 1 time trans build?

His pricing is better than I thought so now I can afford some upgrades lol

If you plan on tracking the car and building a motor, ask him about his straight cut 4th gear, an well as his "4th gear savior" cooler adapter. The stock 4th gear is the weak link in these transmissions when torque starts going up.

The 4.11 final drive definitely requires a stroker motor and turbo upgrade. The stock motor just wont' make enough torque and will make the car less fun to drive.

It was on the list but I only had him for like 40 minutes so I didnt get through all my questions. I talked to him about the savior plate and he thought it would be a good idea to put a cooler up there, although not immediately necessary. I have a bbk full on the car right now, but I may get a 7163 or 7670 towards the end of the summer/next winter. I am okay with loosing accel since my wheels and tires set up is lighter than before and im running shorter tires than before. I also have more power in the car that I could get out by swapping some small things, and getting e85 is not as much as a hassle to me as it used to be. Most importantly Im still working on building a motor, but slowly

I had that 4.11 in my car at the 500hp/400tq level with the FP red and stock 2.0. I did not like it. The car lost most of its snap. It's not a small change.

Last question. Its quicker to get an answer from here than from him. How did you all ship your transmissions to him? I have shipped transmissions a bunch of different ways but I want to hear from you guys before I get out the Cling packing wrap, packing peanuts, and a plastic tub to drill holes in. Did you just wrap it and pallet it? Have him send you a box? Let me know as I can have it shipped this weekend. I just got to get in touch with him. Looks like I may buy that straight cut 4th on the marketplace. Thanks

I put mine on a 1/4 pallet and ship it freight.

He can also ship you a box with formed expanding foam packing. Just drop your trans in and send it back.
