Manley Billet 100mm crank - Cracked

I guess I get to join the crowd with a cracked Manley Billet 100mm crank.

Cracked following the diagonal oiling hole towards the thinner material in the rod bearing area.

Now its just a question of do I try another Manley billet? Eagle Forged? K-1 Billet? I think I have ruled OEM cranks out as I will be over 700hp.

30,000 miles - and spent its whole life at 480-560hp.

I would follow the lead of RS Motors (not sure, off hand, what they use now)

They failed many of the Manleys & have moved on!

Edit: Heres a quote from Ronnie @ RS 2 weeks ago: " We switched to all billet or OEM for cranks under $1600. There are cranks out there in the $4k range"

It seems the english racing likes Eagle, and then moves to K-1, just based on their build options.

Yeah, youre right. Heres a paste of one of their build specs: Eagle 88mm Crank ( K1 Billet Crank available for additional $800 ) or they suggest the OEM on some builds

It seems the OEM suggestions end at 600ish hp for 2.4s.

Do you know if crankshaft was balanced during assembly?

How high were you revving your engine and how often?
Also, have you had wheel hop on launches and what motor mounts are you using?

It was balanced as it was expected to rev to 9k.

As if that is even possible to answer over the course of 8 years. It saw 8300 every time I ran it through the traps.

Zero wheel hop on launches - never ran slicks.

Mounts are 100% stock - as if that makes much of a difference.

I was thinking if you had stiffer mounts and wheel hop, it could transfer the shock during lunch. So now, I'm all out of ideas. 8 years on this block, but only 30,000 miles? Was this your weekend race/track car?

Not even so much so. Drove it to work on nice days. Went to car cruises. Track on occasion... maybe three times a summer.

Strange that it failed with such a light duty life. Maybe oil sat too long with blowby contaminants degrading it? How did you know to open up your oil pan to check?

Oil was changed once a year - roughly every 3,000 miles. Only ran Brad Penn 20-50 and pureone filters until they came out with the boss, then switched to BOSS

It has been using A LOT of oil for the last 5-6,000. One quart every 400 miles. Decided to save up and have it done.

What crank are you planning on replacing this with?
Also, how is this burning up oil?
