The motor won't spin with the timing belt off. Valves are open and will hit.

Line up timing marks, install and tension timing belt, turn it over with hand tools, see what happens.

Position the crank so the pistons are all sitting in the middle of the bore, the get the cams line up, and then you'll be able to bring #1 to TDC. You'll also need to verify the front balance shaft is positioned correctly by pulling the bolt/plug on the front (turbo side) of the block, and stick screw drivers in there.

Just figured it out. My exhaust can spin freely and I realized that wasn't right. Pulled the valve cover and all the lifters had been thrown off of it. I guess a bent valve or it threw timing and threw all of them off

Check that camshaft and see if it's bent

Lifters? Or rockers?
Lifters don't come out easily.
definitely check your cams and cam caps to extra wear where it's oval.

Valves contacted pistons and won't open further, putting pressure back on cam lobes, which kept turning. Lifters held it's position like it was designed to do and the rockers popped out to relieve the pressure. Valves are likely all bent, cams could have indentation in lobes. Hopefully cam caps didn't suffer because I don't think you can find replacements without buying whole head.

Sorry yes it was the rockers. And I'm just rebuilding the whole head. The lifters, cams, and rockers are all scratched

I'm going to find out this weekend if the valves are bent. I was going to rebuild myself but I'm not having second thoughts. May send it into map to have it rebuilt

DO NOT send it to MAP. They are a joke among jokes.

A quality local machine would be far better than sending it to MAP. If you want a something high performance, Headgames is a great option.

That looks pretty epic, you should definitely post in the engine failure thread. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ne-thread.html
